summary Memory problems with 32 bit machine

Dear all

Thank you for your help and response on this question. Please find below a
summary of the responses

A number of people suggested this userva option which we have now employed
on most of our 32-bit machines with good success we have used the 2700
option.

Did you try the /3gb switch with the /userva option?
I use these options: /3gb /userva=2700
The /userva=2700 actually makes the /3Gb option behave as a /2.7Gb option.

Sometimes 3Gb for applications is a bit too much. That might help with the
problem of the Nvidia driver.

Make sure you are using the /USERVA=2900 switch in addition to the /3GB
switch. You can change the value to 2500 or even smaller to avoid the
NVIDIA conflict. Without the 3GB switch, Pro/E will crash at 1.2 to 1.4GB
(not the 2GB advertized).
Also, the user’s local cache size will impact how much can be opened in
Pro/E. INTRALINK 9.1 and Pro/E both use the same process (xtop.exe)
memory allocation so keeping as few workspaces with as little cache as
possible will help.
We recently added memory to all our 32bit workstations to give them 4GB.
Windows XP only shows about 3.5 but every little bit can help.

Please note we have come across a couple of problems with regards to
remote access MSTSC with machines running 3 Gb switch, if the user
attempts to access remotely. It crashes the PC with a memory error. This
was supposed to be fixed in XP SP 3 but appears to continue to be a
problem

Client side tuning has also been advised we are currently done this on one
PC and are reviewing the improvements

Also advised was the Real-time monitoring with the Windows Performance
Monitor , which can be downloaded from the following link.
