units in context of sharing geometry

I am transitioning my work from imperial to metric. Where I am having parts made now, the drawings etc all need to be metric. But many of the files I work with are still British.

In the immediate, I would like to copy some geometry from a metric assembly into an imperial part. I can't convert the part because it has a million parameters with values set in imperial. But I don't want to convert my assembly to imperial because most everything else is metric and also when you convert there are some rounding errors that turn up as ridiculous dimensions in drawings etc (eg 2.99978 mm).

When I share geometry, the scale is off by the factor of 25.4.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way around this problem?

Any tips on the next best way of being able to share geometry between parts of different units if there is no true solution?
