How to import parameters into part that has no parameters?

Good morning,

I am working on some parts that was created not using a
start part. I am trying to figure an easy way to import the parameters into
this part using a mapkey for later use if needed. In the parameter table I
do not see any import function. I am able to do a copy and paste from
another part with the parameter I need to the new part. I am thinking if I
can write a relation to create the new parameter as a string of some text
and then delete the text then I can get the parameter in using import
relations.

Example:

MATL=CRS

T_NUMBER=T-80020

Thanks.

I haven't used this in a long time, but it used to be that a neutral file (*.neu) import would bring in parameters from the source model. So, making a neutral file export of your start part and then importing that into the part that is missing parameters brings all your default parameters along. You can then delete the import feature and the parameters remain.

I just tested this with a completely empty part in Creo 2 and it still works.

Hi,

I have tried your method of importing parameters using neutral file. But, Once I imported, then those parameters are not editable. Do you face this issue?

What version of Creo are you on?

We did a whole bunch (1000's of files) by using ModelCheck in batch mode when we converted from Intralink to Windchill/PDMLink years ago.

We have a mapkey that add common parameters to a part. The mapkey is attached. Use mapkey when you have the part open and it will add parameters. You can edit the mapkey to change parameter names and type or use as a guide to create yours from scratch.

Another way is to use ModelCHECK as a batch process you can do a whole directory with that. It has been a while since using this so I don't have much to offer than I know it can do it.
