Interface error - why?

I try to push down the top part (see pict.). The inside of ring part should contact with outside faces of lower part but the result doesnt show this:

Before they go into contact the distance between faces of interfaces starts to increase.

Why?

It needs large displacements turned on to resolve the sliding.

I replicated the design and the results shown when large displacement is OFF.
