Torsion Spring Mechanism Troubleshooting

Hello all,

If anyone has an idea about torsion springs ?

I am trying to apply torsion spring mechanisms to this assembly, but during the process I am unable to pick a reference point; the first point is selected, but the second point is unable to be picked, and the torsion spring is not visible.

Result of this process I need a calculation against the torsion spring.

For reference, I attached a screenshot of the extension spring that shows when the reference points are selected and the spring becomes visible.

Hello,

Torsion Springs store energy by twisting which is the Torque which is directly proportional to angular deflection

From Hook's law for torsion: T(Torque) = k (Torsional spring rate) x theta (angle of twist)

In CREO, this is rotational spring element that must be applied on a revolute joint i.e. pin connection

Example below:

Grey part - Base ,fixed to the default CS

Yellow part - Has pin connection , the part will be supported by Torsion spring

At the center you can see the Torsion spring. Below is the spring configurations after running static analysis to determine spring will deflect by how many degrees

I have also created a measure to measure the angle of deflection

As you change the spring K the value of twist angle changes , gravity must be enabled and mass properties of the parts supported defined

I hope above will give you a starting point of Torsion springs in mechanisms
