Arbortext PE 6.0

Arbortext PE 6.0

Adepters:

I got an e-mail this morning from PTC announcing Arbortext Editor and Publishing Engine 6.0. The link to the editor works fine and I was able to download. However, the PE link only shows me PE 5.3 and 5.4. Anyone else tried this (assuming you have a technical support subscription)?

Yeah, I'm not seeing it either. I can get to the resource documents,
and all of the 6.0 documentation, just no install media.

Try going to ptc.com/support and clicking on the "Order or Download
Software Updates" link, which is the first link in the right column of
the "Popular Tools" section in the middle of the page. Selecting
"Order or Download Software Updates" again from the resulting page
should give you a list of product families, including "Arbortext
Publishing Engine".

-Brandon 🙂

As I reported earlier this morning from @adepters on Twitter, I can see 6.0
for PE and Styler but not Editor. Still true now. Dunno if it is a technical
thing on the support site or a licensing issue for me (and others?). Our
maintenance is all on one invoice though so it would surprise me if there
were problems only with Editor.

Not sure why you're not seeing Editor, as I was able to see it when I
went looking. For what it's worth, I may be wrong, but it appears
that the selections under Styler and Editor are the same package, as
the size is the same. What software you actually get will depend on
the selections you make at install time and the licenses you have.

-Brandon 🙂

That's what I've been doing, but no PE 6.0. If you're seeing it, then it must be a licensing/maintenance issue for those who aren't. I know we aren't dropping maintenance, so it seems like we should see it.

I'm seeing the opposite: Editor and Styler, but no PE.

Could this simply be a stale browser page that needs refreshing? I see both
PE and Editor and just downloaded both.

officially, this makes it .... hinky.

<blush>oops... I meant Editor and PE </blush>

What I love about programming... all the cool jargon... 😉

I've tried it from home on Firefox and work on MSIE. No Editor 6.0.

(Not worried about it ... just sayin'.)

I can definitely see and download all the products I expect, including
Editor/Styler and PE 6.0 F000.

There is also something called "Arbortext 6.0 Media" which I'm assuming is
simply all the installers packaged in one file because it's about 3.6GB!

PTC pushed the license database a couple of more times (not 100% sure
exactly what that means) and both of my customer numbers are now showing 6.0
downloads available for ALL of the Arbortext products we have licensed. If
you're still not seeing it, contact support (or Susan Fort if you know how
to reach her directly). Even if it isn't an issue for you (because you're
not upgrading any time soon or whatever), they'd like to know to make sure
they've ironed out all the kinks in the transition so no customer who NEEDs
access has trouble.
