Display of Jpeg graphics in S1000D IETP Viewer

Hi,

Is IsoView required to view Figure jpeg graphics in the S1000D IETP
Viewer? When I click on them I noticed illustrations then appear as
blocks in the right hand pane and I don't get to see the figure, which
is a jpeg file.

Hello Greg,

Yes, it is. IsoView is required, probably due to unification to display
jpg, cgm or iso graphics. This requirement takes place, as I remember,
since Arbortext AAD 4.3 M040.

IETP media can be delivered on "CD installer" format, in such case ISOView
(with Standalone license file) is included into CD Media and can be
installed with IETP Viewer. If IETP is delivered in "CD Runtime" of "WEB",
ISOView should be installed separately. I believe sender of IETP Media
should deliver both IETP Media and ISOView with standalone license.

If you are a developer of IETP Documentation, ISOView with standalone
license should be on AAD software media, in catalog Utility.

In your case IETP tries to start IsoView and finds IsoView, which is
included in Arbortext Editor. I propose if you start Arbortext Editor and
open any cgm or iso graphics, probably then IETP will display figure
graphics too.

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for the reply. I can see my graphics in the Editor, but not in
the IETP. I was guessing that the requirement to hot-spot graphics was
behind the requirement for IsoView. I did create a standalone CD IETP,
but my graphics do not display. My understanding then is that to create
the CD standalone IETP I would require a license to distribute Isoview.

Many thanks,

Greg

Hello Greg,

Arbortext Editor has ISOView plugin inside. When you see cgm graphics in
Arbortext Editor, you are using "internal IsoView", licensed to Arbortext
Editor . When you are using jpeg graphics, Arbortext Editor doesn't use
ISOview. So everything is fine in Arbortext Editor.

It looks IETP Viewer requires "standalone" ISOview from Arbotext AAD
media. To check an idea you have to install ISOView from Arbortext AAD or
download 90-days trial ISOView license from PTC site.

I am not sure completely, PTC staff can correct me. I think if a company
has bought one license of Arbortext IETPViewer , company can distribute
IETP Media with ISOView standalone license to one third-party customer and
so on.

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for the information. I haven't tried a CGM graphic yet, I'll
have to do that.

Hello,

Yes that is correct. You can publish non CGM graphic types without ISOview (some notation types require other plug ins). But if you want to use Hotpsotted CGM's you need the isoview distribution kit.

Thanks

I will enquire with ATX product management as to whether Isoview is ALWAYS required, even for JPEGS and GIFs etc.. I do not beleive so, but I will double check.

Thanks

Ian.

All I've seen are Ian's two notes, and Paul's. Wonder what changed with the list... Or maybe our Exchange server, except, then why can I see any of the posts?

For whatever reason, I have not been receiving emails of my own Adepters posts for a couple of years now.

Do you have mail filtering rules setup? I always filter all mails from my
own email address because 90% of those emails turn out to be from spammers.
