What version of JAVA is needed to run version 8.2?
This is from the 8.2.3.0 installation guide
JVM Not Delivered with Arbortext Editor
Arbortext Editor does not ship with Java Development Kit (JDK). You must
obtain JDK from Oracle (https://www.java.com) or from Amazon and install it.
Arbortext Editor will work with Oracle Java 17 and Amazon Corretto 17.

As others have said, you need install Java separately. I am using the Termurin build (from the Eclipse Foundation), so I do not think it has to be either Oracle's or Amazon's build, as long as you get the Java version mentioned in the documentation.
If you plan on building your own extensions, make sure the version of the Java compiler matches what JVM version mentioned in the documentation, otherwise you may get compiler errors when linking to aom.jar.
