Pocket checklist formatting with FOSI - tabs and top edge binding?

I've been requested to buiild a NATOPS Pocket Checklist in XML and use a FOSI to format it. This is a 5x8 pocket guide in which pages are bound on the top edge and the pages have cut tabs down the one edge. These are ultimate printed on card stock with some sort of comb binding/rings that allow you to flip the thing open and fold it back.

Thus far we have produced these in Frame and Interleaf and approached it as a layout problem. We want to convert this process over to XML and use a FOSI. The XML is not a problem, I'm curious what (if any) people see as pitfalls with making these tabs. I'm assuming that I can easily set a top binding edge instead of a left one.

thanks

Dan,
To me it sounds like a similar solution to having bleed tabs and using regions. You just need to know where the cut out are going to be.

Sort of. What is produced in Ileaf is an outline for the page - full
outline not crop marks. So one page has something like:

-------------

----| |

----------

I'm not sure how the copy center then produces the pages, but the final
result will be trimmed to those lines.

Main reason I asked is becasue they have not done thsi before, some I'm
wondering what issues are lurking that I haven't discovered yet.

I'll keep the list posted.
