This video concludes Module 9: Anomaly Detection of the ThingWorx Analytics Training videos. It gives an overview of the "Statistical Process Control (SPC) Accelerator"

 

This video doesn't contain a required hands-on exercise. If you are interested in the accelerator, feel free to explore the accelerator by following along with this video.

 

A team at PTC built the accelerator to expedite the process of building an SPC application inside ThingWorx. This accelerator is not a fully-developed or supported PTC product - it is a set of ThingWorx entities for the user to modify and employ as needed. If interested, download the attached "Statistical Process Control Documentation_v6.5.pdf" and "SPC 6.5 Import Package.zip". NOTE: It is recommended to import into a sandbox or non-production environment running ThingWorx 9.1.6 or later.

0:00 – Introduction: SPC Accelerator in ThingWorx & SPC Main Mashup

The SPC (Statistical Process Control) accelerator is introduced inside ThingWorx, with the SPC Main mashup shown as the primary entry point for monitoring asset properties.

 

0:10 – Problem Areas Screen: Group By Line/Asset/Property & Search

A tour of the Problem Areas screen, using the Group By dropdown to organize out-of-control rule violations by production line, asset, or individual property, demonstrated with the L100 line and PTC-DTS.SPC.Blower asset, plus a search field to filter properties such as suction.

 

2:40 – SPC Monitoring Screen: Overview & Filtering

Double-clicking a line opens the SPC monitoring page, which auto-populates filters for the selected production line, asset, and property and drives all of the accompanying charts and values.

 

3:30 – X-bar Chart: Samples, X-bar-bar & Sigma Lines

Explains the X-bar chart plotting the average of each consecutive sample, the X-bar-bar mean line, and the plus/minus one, two, and three sigma lines used to flag erratic behavior and out-of-control rule violations.

 

4:39 – R Chart, S Chart & IXMR Chart: Control Limits

Covers the R chart (sample max minus min) with its R-bar line and upper/lower control limits calculated from standard-practice constants, plus the selectable S chart (standard deviation) and IXMR moving-range chart options.

Details the ten-bin capability histogram, its target normal distribution, the user-defined set point, three-sigma lines, and upper/lower design specs, and how tail placement affects the CP and CPK process capability values.

Uses the History screen's production line/asset/property tree to calculate and Save Limits for X-bar and standard deviation control limits and central line, review PP and PPK metrics, edit assigned causes, and export them to CSV.

Walks through Asset Configuration to create a new production line named L300 and attach a streaming asset (the compressor) using the Select Streaming Asset magic wand.

Configures the Suction Pressure Bar G property with parameters for sample size, X-bar points, capability points, lower and upper design specs, and set point, then saves it with Add or Update SPC Monitoring.
