Issue with "Regenerate Column Mapping Rules" in Kepware Configuration (.opf)

Hi PTC Community,

I'm currently facing a peculiar issue in KepserverEX 6.15 while working with a specific .opf configuration file that includes a datalogger setup.

  • Every time I open this .opf file, the "regenerate column mapping rules" area, under the Advanced Log Group settings, gets altered. The Yes/No choices are changed seemingly randomly.
  • The rest of the configuration stays intact.
  • The project itself is offline and being used to migrate settings from an older Kepware server to a new one.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

  • Is there a specific setting or migration step that could be causing this?
  • Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Thank you for further clarification. Since you are just opening the old .opf file to see the settings, there is no need to perform runtime connect and update.

I am not sure what is causing the "Regenerate Column Mapping Rules" settings to change randomly after opening the file each time.

As this is affecting only 4 settings of Yes/No under "Regenerate Column Mapping Rules," I suggest taking a screenshot of this setting from the old file and applying it to the new project.

For detailed analysis, you can submit a support ticket and provide the old .opf file so Tech Support can check what is happening.

Hello,

I checked it on 6.17 and did not observe the issue. I also reviewed the release notes and found that no fixes were made between 6.15 and 6.17 for a similar issue.

Here are a few things you can check:

  1. Please note that users with RW access can make changes.
  2. Disable the Datalogger log group, make changes, then enable the group:
    • Datalogger Group properties > General > Configuration > Enabled = Yes / No
  3. Disconnect any client application from the Runtime to make changes:
    • Select Runtime, Disconnect and make changes
    • Select Runtime, Connect and update the Runtime with the changes made

If the issue persists, I recommend opening a support ticket with the Kepware Technical Support team. Tech support may need to check a particular .opf file.

Hi rajskumar,

thanks for the fast reply. The issue is that the .opf file I'm using is not modified. I just use it to create a new one using some identical configurations on the migration process. The only thing I do with the .opf is open it to look at its configuration.
1. No changes are made. The new .opf I am creating is modified normally.
2. All Datalogger groups are disabled. Still, the issue is in the .opf I use to copy from.
3. Should I have Runtime / Runtime clients disabled in the old configuration when opening it? When asked for updating the runtime, what should I do?
