Kepware

Hello, i’m facing an issue with KepserverEX6 not updating values according to specified scan rate (1000ms)  from a Modicon M580 PLC. Modbus TCP/IP driver is set, i’m using 241 tags, i use only one channel and one device. Instead of 1s i see values update roughly 5-15 seconds. There are no other clients in Kepware communicating to the same device, only one OPC UA client reads/writes the same data from localhost (soft-PLC installed in the same server where Kepware is). The same soft-PLC in parallel reads/writes data in a different channel (Simulator Driver), and there everything is okay. So i don’t think issue is coming from the soft-PLC. When i use quick client on the Modbus TCP/IP channel i also see data updating slow.Network card is 1gbit.  My channel settings that could affect the communication are following:Write Optimization :Write only latest value for all tagsDuty Cycle is set to 10Communication Serialization :Network Mode is Load BalancedEthernet Socket utilization is set One or

We are running KEPServerEX​ as an OPC UA Client​ in a production environment to connect to an IGS OPC UA Server. The total tag count is around 6,000.The issue is that KEPServer frequently suffers from connection losses and reconnections, accompanied by socket errors. Simultaneously, when checking the tag quality via Quick Client (QC), the status shows BAD. Although performing a Reinitialize​ temporarily restores normal operation, the problem recurs frequently, leading to significant data loss. This instability has caused serious frustration for the customer.How can we resolve this issue?

Hi all,A few years back I had a use case where I wanted to use the kepware configuration API to create and modify advanced tags from thingworx. Does anyone know if this functionality has been added or is in the future plans to be developed?

Hi,We are facing with issue that we are not sending the data thru MQTT.On Kepware side there was no message that we are disconnected from MQTT.After several restarts of the Kepware IoT service, the problem was solved, but it reappeared after some time.We have openlogic-openjdk-jre-8u482-b08-windows-x32 JRE version installed on Kepware server. Thanks in advance.

Hi,I am looking to connect to Fanuc Robodrill CNC and collect some of the machine parameters.What would I need to get in order to get this? I already have Kepserver with AB driver talking down to the site.Can i set up Focas and Ethernet/IP on Fanuc Robodrill to make it work as plant port already used to communicate with AB PLC on plant?

Kepware dooesnt allow for logical/logical non-blocking protocols for rockwell PLCs, when accessing Program tags. This means that if an OPC client needs to access program tags, the PLC needs to be setup with Symbolic addressing, which really slows down the R/W rates on the Kepware OPC UA server. Anyone faced this issue?

We have a Mariocotta slitter HMI/Industrial PC. The mSATA hard drive failed on the PC. We replaced the drive with a new one, & restored that drive from an old Veeam backup of the system. When we restored it, the Kepware Allen Bradley perpetual license was missing. We have been unable to apply the license on the new drive. We are currently utilizing the emergency 7 day license. What is the normal procedure in this scenario? Our vendor is telling us we will need to buy a new license, but this looks like it could simply be rehosted since the only thing to change was the HDD (PC is the same PC). 

We have many channels and want to organize the channels in folder without affecting the Item ID for the associated tags.For example here, I want to have the ability to make a folder for the dryers and the PRD devices.The folder is merely for organizing within Kepware and should not affect the other systems. Therefore the Item ID, e.g. PRD0147.myDevice.myTag, should not contain the folder. 

I working on one of my projects. As per my application, I want to take data from DCS over TCP/IP into kepware. From kepware i want to publish those data over opc da for other SCADA/DCS that works as opc da client. My quetion is does kepware works as OPC DA server for this application?

Hi there, I’m trying to set up a connection between Modbus TCP driver in Kepware Server 7 and modbus ModRSsim2 simulator.Port 502 and device ID = 1 are used in both ends.When Kepware starts, it shows the following line i log window:   Channel1 | Starting unsolicited communication. | Protocol = 'TCP', Port = 502.   Should it be something like Modbus TCP Client/Master mode instead ?In Kepware Server 7 where do you switch between Modbus TCP Client/Master mode and Modbus TCP Server/Slave/Unsolicited mode when you set up a channel ?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance,Henrik 

Hi there, I’m trying to establish direct communication between an ABB ACS880 drive (using FENA-11/FENA-21 EtherNet/IP adapter) and KEPServerEX.The drive is already communicating successfully with a ControlLogix PLC via Generic Ethernet Module configuration. Current assembly configuration in the PLC is:Input Assembly: 152Output Assembly: 102Data Format: INTSize: 13 INTsNetwork communication is confirmed:-Drive responds to ping-PLC communication is stable and operationalMy goal is to read the drive data directly from Kepware without going through the PLC.However, my Kepware installation currently includes:Allen-Bradley ControlLogix EthernetAllen-Bradley Ethernetbut I do not see a dedicated “EtherNet/IP” driver available.When attempting to use the ControlLogix Ethernet driver directly against the drive IP, Kepware reports: “Node path is invalid”I understand this may be because the ABB drive exposes EtherNet/IP assemblies/CIP objects rather than symbolic Logix tags.Could you please advise:

I Transferred a Perpetual License,License shows as ‘good’ in the license utility.License shows as ‘Active’ on the Kepware website.BUT KepserverEX is still showing a 2hr time limit, after which, it deactivates. License support expiry is 10/2019.I am uncertain what Kepserver version it was originally running on.Now running on Kepserver 6.18.318.0 QUESTIONS:Is this a Kepserver version issue? How do I see what version of kepserver my licenses need?Or has Kepware made it so you can't transfer older licenses without paying?

I have a requirement for taking IEC61850 data from an IED device into the Kepserver. After which i need Factorytalk view SE using OPC UA client to read that data. How can I go about it?

Hello,I'm reading data from another application via an OPC UA Client on any channel in Kepware. I can receive notifications when the data changes. Is there a way to create notifications before the data changes? Reading at intervals doesn't solve my problem. I have a timestamp indicating when a value has been read. I want to notify the client of the same value when the timestamp changes. 

Hi, I have a customer that is using Kepware Server for OPC DA / OPC UA / OPC DA communication between two systems. At the moment we are having issues with certain slow updating tags (booleans and integers) that freezes and are not updated between the two systems. Continuous updating values are no issue... The issue seem to be that the tags gets timed out and are not correctly mirrored between the systems. If we create local subscriptions on the KepServer node on the actual tags the error seem to disappear. Is there a way to configure kepware to establish the subscription to the source tags regardless of the client status? We cant find any correlating error messages in kepware. 

We have a connection issue between KepserverEx 6.18 and Janitza UMG96-S2 power measuring device. The connection is working and the tags can be readed via QuickClient but during the reading the quality of some tags randomly switching from good to bad for a while. The strange is that not all of the tags quality switches and it happens randomly. Does anyone has a similar issue with a Modbus TCP connection?

Could you please share the port issue solution?   Here is my setup: Cleco Controller mPro200 - Open Protocol - Port 9002 - Activated Cleco Controller mPro200 - TorqueNet- Port 12345 - Activated Cleco Controller mPro200 id : 192.168.50.20 KepServerEx - Channel:TorqueToolEthernet - Device:Cleco (Open Protocol - 192.168.50.20 - Port: 9002)   Both the controller and the port can be ping successfully from the PC.   However, none of the tags receives information from Cleco. We are experiencing inconsistent data loss between KEPServerEX V6.13.266 and our Atlas Copco Torque Tools. Hello,I have a PLC program which send the DTL from the PLC, although I can log the timestamp based on the SQL side, is there anyway to log DTL directly from PLC to Kepware with the new/upcomming updates ?

Hi, I currently use LinkMaster to map tags between my field devices and PLC. I want to get rid of LinkMaster and do the mapping in Kepware Server. I currently have Version 6 of KepServerEx. Do I need to update to V7 in order to use the advanced tag linked tags feature or is that available in the version I have now? Also, is there a way to just export my LinkMaster tags and import into Kepware or does it have to be a manual migration? Thanks 🙂

先前客戶在 ODBC 做讀寫，再透過 OPC UA 提供給 InTouch。每日固定時間會出現數值異常。我們已經更換過 Server 環境，也更換過資料庫（MSSQL / MySQL）。若直接接收溫度資料則是正常的，使用 Local Historian 也是正常的。我們嘗試過許多測試方法，目前的結論是：只要資料經過 ODBC，就會發生異常。異常現象大約持續幾分鐘，在這段時間內，A 項數值會突然升高，B 項數值也會升高（沒有太明顯的規律）。而且只會發生在特定時間。想詢問 PTC 或其他夥伴，是否有遇過類似案例，或有任何可能的原因與建議方向。Previously, the customer used ODBC for read/write operations, and the data was then provided to InTouch through OPC UA. Data abnormalities occur at a fixed time every day.We have already replaced the server environment and also changed the database (MSSQL / MySQL). When temperature data is received directly, the values are normal. Using Local Historian also works normally.We have tried many testing approaches, and the current conclusion is that the abnormality only occurs when the data passes through ODBC.The abnormal behavior lasts for a few minutes. During this time, the value of item A suddenly increases, and item B also increases (without a clear pattern).This issue only occurs at a specific time each day.We would

I use KepserverEX6.14 for linking Rockwell and siemens PLC's.We have 207 link tags in both directions. But we have troubles with 1 Siemens 1512 PLC when the communication drops (without voltage or network troubles). After the communication restores, kepserver can read the datablocks but CAN'T write to the datablock. The solution is then disable-enable tags, after this everything works like it should. My datatypes are boolean's and words (not defaults).There is a scan rate of 2000ms for PLC values. And the linked tags are written when input changes.I have tested with Auto-Demotion on and off (also with 'Discard Requests when Demoted' on/off) What can i try else?

Hi, I need to connect to KepserverEX 5.8 in a Windows 2000 Pro/Sp4 workstation with Ewon Flexy 205.The goal is using the ewon (in this case 5 of them) as middle point to communicate s7-300 PLC with Wonderware 8.0 using KepserverEX 5.8 as the OPC server. When configurating KepserverEX 5.8 channel i use OPC UA and configure UA server in the channel (see attachment 1) and when i try to import items on  the device to import the tags of the Ewons an error appear (see attachement 2).See attachement 3 for ewon configuration.Any suggestion to address this?

Hello, im setting up tags in Kepware where previously we have used RS linx, the booleans tags are all showing 0 when it should be a 1 and are not changing at all. The quality of the tag is good and its showing correctly (1) in RS linx but a 0 in kepware, anyone got any advice? Kepware server 7
