What is the optimal number of channels on KepServerEx?

Hi everybody,

Assuming that I have a configuration of one machine in one channel.
What is the optimal number of channels on KepServerEx?

When should you think about turning on a second KepServerEx server?

how to distribute overload on one KepwareEX?

Is a Master/slave hierarchy recommended for several KepServers at the same time?

Thank you for answers.

BR,

Jan

Please take a look at the Kepware knowledge base article in the following link:

Article - CS281787 - Are there limits for Channel, Device or Tag for KEPServerEX / ThingWorx Kepware Server project? (ptc.com)

The number of channels permitted are designated by the protocol driver used. A second Kepware would be suggested if you are approaching the max use of your system resources.  A Master/slave hierarchy would not be recommended for running several KEPServer's at the same time since this type of architecture would only contribute to the use of system resources. The multiple KEPServers would be on different machines with the capability of passing data to a singular Client application.

Thanks,

*Chris
