Default Program to open MathCad files

Hello,

I can not see the mathcad icons (yellow rectangle with M) in the folder containing my mathcad files.

I can not open any file by simply double-click on it.

I have tried to designate mathcad as default program by right clicking on one of the files, properties, change ... but, it dose not give me the option to choose mathcad. I have also tried by choosing browse, programs, mathcad, choose mathcad.exe, it does not work.

Can you help please.

Thank you

Hello!

What version of Mathcad use? Try to reinstall Mathcad.

Thank you.

I have tried both Versions 14 and 15.

Re-installed. They do not work.

On one computer can't work simultaneously MC15 and MC14! MC14 it is necessary to uninstall.

P.S. What operating system use?

Hello Vladimir,

Thank you.

Version 14 was uninstalled first.

I use windows 7 on this computer.

I don't know about Windows 7, but in XP open Explorer. On the menu select "Tools", "Folder Options" and the "File Types tab". You can create the file association there. If that doesn't work in 7 then search the help for "File Associations".

Hello,

Thank you Richard.

It was in the registry. I corrected the path and it is OK now.

Thanks again for your time.

Could you, please, describe in more details the decision of this problem (path correction in the registry)?

Hello Vladimir,

Sorry for the late reply.

In Windows 7:

Start button - regedit - enter

In registry:

Click on: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Applications/mathcad.exe/shell/open/command

On the right pane, the path should read: "C:\program files\mathcad\mathcad15\mathcad.exe" "%1"

In my case, it was mathcad14. So, I had to change it into mathcad15, then everything turned OK.

I hope this information will be helpful to other users.

Regards,

Anousheh

Thank you for your suggestion.

I tried to go to the link you provided, I get the message:

Thanks again for your time.

I think that you need to upgrade your PTC.com account. And to fill a field for Customer Number.
