Electrical engineers may not pay much attention to the Driving Engine of the generator, they

might say this is a mechanical problem. The heat of the returned fuel oil from the engine

must be dissipated using, either a Day Tank or a fuel cooler. This is very important to keep

the supply fuel temperature within a specified limits for optimum engine life and maximum

power capability. However, the electrical engineer might need to know the following in a time

period of 12 Hrs of operation (for example), or 720 minutes (incremental time period equal 60

mins) :

1- The Tank Fuel Quantity in Lb.

2- Tank Capacity in %.

3- Mixture Temperature (Tmix-deg.F) of the returned fuel and the fuel in the tank.

4- Fuel Height in the Tank ft.

5- Heat Rejection to/from the Day Tank Btu.

6- Temperature Change in the Day Tank deg.F.

7- Day Tank Temperature deg.F.
