Hexagonal packing

Would anyone be able to start me off with creating a graphic showing 6 hexagonally packed objects (described by gaussians).

I would like to be able to change the FWHM of the gaussian, and the separtion of the objects and then determine the overlap of the objects.

By hexagonal packing, you mean :
a Mathcad chain saw of 5 crosswise cuts for 6 logs.

Jason,

Look at that simple extractor, and the beautiful image. For a serial extract of different level ranges, a piece of programme must be designed. Then extract the size that contains the valued pixels, then place the 6 images in an hexagonal disposition.
