Mathcad Prime 6 text editor always crashes on post-fixes

My computer was attacked and all my files coded with aamv ransomware virus.
My Mathcad Prime 6 (MP6) was in part damaged.
I can write comments between the mathamatical  formulas, but, if I come back later and I want correct the written text my MP6 chrases down immediately. I must write text in Word, copy here and paste in MP6 worksheet. How can I repair this problem?
Under windows I have only Modify and Uninstall possibility. My Windows 11 Pro was heavier damaged!
Pls support me asap.

The usual procedure after being bitten by a ransomware virus is (apart from paying the ransom) a fresh reinstallation of the operating system and all software, isn't it?

I am surprised that obviously you still use the infected machine.

Was it possible to buy a perpetual license for Prime 6? As far as I am aware PTC (at least now) only sells licenses valid for one year and want you to pay the fee every year.

Or are you talking about the free Prime Express?

In case of a licensed full version of Prime, I would save the license file (usually license.dat) at a safe place, uninstall an reinstall Prime from anew and then provide it the saved license file.

In case of the Express version uninstalling an reinstalling should may work, too. I am not sure because PTC is not selling or supporting Prime 6 anymore because this is the last version which also includes Mathworks muPad for symbolic calculations.

In case of a fully paid licensed version you may contact official PTC support and ask if a fresh installation is possible to do.

The same proposed me the perplexity.ai. I ordered today new win11 pro, office 2024, and if they are here I will later reinstall the MP6 with license file. I do not have an newer license. After the ransomware attack I  didnz use more my desktop. Only started malware defender software. And after this accidentally crash I was from 2023-2024 sick, big heart operation, and now I begann again to have force: I have enough energy to repair my desktop.
Thank you for your proposal!
Have a nice day!

I hope you have better luck with your life in general going forward in 2025.

I manage the Creo and PTC Mathcad YouTube channels for PTC, as well as all PTC Mathcad marketing in general.

Hallo Newman
Thank you for your wishes.
Who can decode my *.mcdx.aamv files. One file is important: I made evry possible calculation for the fly of arrow. This modells I made especially for bow-arrow sportmans for long distance competitions. Total 91 sites with many comments (text) between formulas.
If possible I can send mcdx.aamv files to try decode it.

Have you, or maybe Werner an idea for decoding this aamv mathcad files? I tried self with many softwares but it was not possible for me. Maybe sombody in the PTC forum had resolved succesfull this wrong experience.

I don't know it for sure but I guess that *.aamv are files encrypted by the virus. Usually they use a pretty good encryption algorithm and unless you have access to NSA equipment and resources you may not be able to decrypt those files - apart from paying the ransom and hoping to get the necessary key from the criminal intruder.

So I fear you will have to recreate these files - either from a anew from memory or maybe you have a printout you can follow. Guess you don't have backup files at a save place 😞

EDIT:

I found this article in the net

Aamv Ransomware - Decryption, removal, and lost files recovery (updated)

and they come to the conclusion "that decryption is rarely possible without the cyber criminals' involvement."

But then - be careful! This article might be a scam and just written to get you into downloading the advertised software (Combo Cleaner). I never heard of this software and I would NOT suggest downloading and using it!

My file over Bow-arrow content a total original  new method how is extremly precise to calculate the efficiency of the weapon bow-arrow: 19 sites. I wrote this with practical examples, diagrams.
The file is total 91 A4 sites.
Is a big work to make everything new. And my heart operation, 6.5 hours long, deleted my memory.
The proposal to have relation to NSA is a good idea. I will try! I want to write a letter to this National Security Agency.
Thank you for your tips.

Have a nice day.
