Hi,
We are looking at extending our intranet search over a large mathcad repository. Does anyone know of a microsoft compatible xmcd iFilter or a configuration method for searching over mathcad files?
Best regards
Mike
Your request does not produce the "ImageReading" .
What is Microsoft doing in there ?
All Mathcad wok sheets that have ever escaped a "PC box"
did go somewhere, none in the ditch.
There are 3 principal repositories:
1. The PTC library
2. This new PTC community [those saved by PTC + those to come]
3. The web that you search via Google. But there is no such list
of Mathcad work sheets ... adding difficulty and web disappear.
Are you asking if there is a Microsoft search tool
"Search all Mathcad that flew out of any box, anywhere in earth"
Answer: don't know, ask Microsoft for a spy search.
ask more: FBI, Interpol,,,,,

XMCD format is basically XML, a text-based file format, so any search program that can read text files can read XMCD files.
We have mathcad files in multiple network locations (not the entire internet). and want to index the files using Sharepoint search. I understand that Mathcad files are essentially xml but we can only get the built in Sharepoint Search to index them if the files are renamed to .xml. I was asking if any xmcd indexing filter (for MS Search) existed so we can configure Sharepoint to use it and return results to users based on metadata in the Mathcad files. If we rename the files by batch process the indexing works but then users do not get the file opened in Mathcad if they click on a returned search result.

::You have Mathcad files ...
... "in mutiple locations"
:: in lost worlds ? or in worlds that have an *.[Extension]
You could probably script a Microsoft component to extract based
on the *.[ext]. That seemingly will only work if your file names are
unique and terminate by a numeral [ a numeral attached]
Example :
McadUnknown1
MacdUnknown2
McadUnknown3
......................
Based on that and for each extension type, the component should
be able to extract : the all serial range ... or a selected range
and that for each type of file extension from the "lost worlds".
