Hi friends,
I have a quick query regarding symbolic solutions of integrals.
While evaluating an integral, Mathcad is returning the following:
(note: no variables have been assigned in this worksheet)
Is it possible to force Mathcad to return the exact solution similar to how WolframAlpha does:
Cheers,
Mike
Solved! Go to Solution.
Looks like muPad already fails at the first step
Here the result of oncle Wolfram
Better than attaching pictures is to attach the worksheet itself here (you may have to zip it because of a serious bug of this forum software).
Mathcads symbolics (= muPad) does in no way live up to programs like mathematica or Maple.
Have you tried using "simplify" or even "simplify, max" ?
Sometimes it helps to use something like "assume,B=real" or "assume,w>0,L>0" etc.
Otherwise I fear muPad is not capable enough to do the job.
It is generally very hard to control the output of the symbolic processor.
Here's your definite integral (the indefinite result is much wider):
Success!

Thanks Werner. Hopefully this will be improved in the future..

Wishful thinking! I won't hold my breath, though.
Since MuPad is now owned by mathworks (the same people as run MatLab) and we've seen that MatLab can reduce this integral while the version of MuPad in Prime cannot. . .
It's a safe extrapolation that this is the way it's going to be until:
I'm betting on #4!
