Connecting Atlas Capco Power Focus 6000

Hi,

We have an Atlas Capco Power Focus 6000 connected with wrenches. For a demo, we want to connect this machine with Thingworx or Kepware. Let us know if there are any step by step instructions to complete this activity.

Greetings Thadeus,

It would be possible to connect the Power Focus 6000 with KEPServerEX if you used the Torque Tool Ethernet driver with the "Open Protocol" model selection. Values brought into KEPServerEX could then be displayed in ThingWorx, particularly by the ThingWorx Manufacturing Apps.

Here are the steps you will want to follow:

1. Download and install KEPServerEX. Instructions for this can be found here:

How do I download and install KEPServerEX?

2. Create a new Channel in your KEPServerEX Project, and select the Torque Tool Ethernet driver in the setup wizard. Keep all of the default Channel settings for now.

3. Create a new Device within the Channel. Note the following information about these settings while creating the Device:

Model: select 'Open Protocol'

ID: This will be the IP address of the Torque tool

Port: 4545, this is the default port for the Open Protocol

Message revisions: for the VIN, Last Tightening, and Old Tightening, you will want to verify the revisions you enter here match those of the physical Device

4. Create the tags within your Device to reflect the values and commands you want to read from/write to the Device. The syntax for the addressing can be found within the Torque Tool Driver Help manual, here:

Torque Tool Ethernet Driver Manual

5. If you are interested in connecting additional Devices to the same KEPServerEX project, be sure to create a new Channel for each one, so there is one Device per Channel.

6. Once you have successfully configured your KEPServerEX <> Power Focus 6000 connection, you can then begin to bring the values into ThingWorx. The two best methods to accomplish this are:

a. The KEPServerEX Native Interface/Industrial Connection method

b. Register a login for the ThingWorx Manufacturing Apps web portal, where you can download the free trial, documentation, and peruse Setup & Configuration tutorials

Please let us know how it goes, especially if you run into any difficulty with this setup.

Best regards,
