Ran fine on Win 7 for a few weeks. Had to reinstall OS due to a crash. Downloaded the installation software and when launching it hangs after the login sequence with the message 'waiting to retrieve license from server'. Again, this is education version, K12.

That'sa different issue Melissa, it means it has contacted the license server specified and it doesnt have a current license for that version.... your network could be down but usually this means you need an updated license file (they only last for a limited time 1 yr or 3yr). Same solution, will fix it but so would an updated license file from PTC academic support.
