what causes the FOSI A31536 error?

A peer of mine is getting this error when he opens a file for editing.

WARNING: Cannot evaluate XPath expression in stylesheet. An XPath Predicate is used in a Style context for an element that occurs in generated text. ... XPthat expression: xref[@type='fn'].

I have no other data on what he may have been doing 😞

Note: We do not use Styler, just the Editor.

Any ideas?

Hi Jerry,

Sounds like he may have done something with the in-editor stylesheet, which would still apply even though you're not using Styler for publishing. Editor ships with a version of Styler that permits styling the Editor environment. If you revert his stylesheets to OOTB, the error should go away. It also shouldn't matter if you revert, since you're not really using styler anyway.
