Is it possible for Creo 9 to open Creo 11 files (*.prt, *assy, etc.)?
I'm part of a global team, and one region's engineering team uses Creo 9 while we use Creo 11. I sent them some files for review and they can't seem to open it.
Thank you!
Creo is forward compatible, but not backwards compatible.
This talks about the use of neutral files not native Creo files:
As pointed out, Creo is not backward compatible, nor is there any Save-As to an older version. You can export the file in a PTC neutral format, STEP or IGES. If you need to share drawings, you are really hosed as the best methods are PDF, DXF or IGES. But these are only 2D representations of the drawing with no 3D models behind them.
From a company standpoint, the other group needs to upgrade to Creo 11.
Hi,
team working on specific project must use the same Creo version. If you don't follow this rule, you will be in trouble.
From my point of view, in that case best way to make review is by using Creo view. If you hare on windchill, just open it from windchill, if not, save as your assembly and all drawing in creo view file. It is also lightweight file to share.
