We need a whitepaper that talks about putting agents on to southbound devices. If one doesn't exist already then we will have to write it but I thought I'd start here. These are the topics we seek to cover are the following:
- when do you put an agent on edge devices? Are there cases where you want to put an agent on a brownfield device? In a brownfield implementation, is the gateway device capable of representing southbound, agent-less devices?
- when do you need a gateway device vs a connected device?
- when would we ever want a gateway agent on VxWorks
