Check for duplicate Variant Specification in Product Family Matrix Editor

Good day,

I would like to know whether it is possible to check for a duplicate Variant Specification in the Product Family Matrix Editor?

When creating a new variant from the overloaded product structure using the Actions > Configure selection, the flow checks whether a similar/duplicate variant already exists.

In the matrix editor it is however possible to allocate any component without validation?
