We are currently running Windchill 8.0 and when working in a workspace linked to a project if you open a Pro/ENGINEER object that has not yet been shared to the project using open in Pro/ENGINEER from its details page in the Pro/ENGINEER embedded browser the object is automatically shared to the project and is placed in the root folder of the project.
As you can imagine this can be problematic for several reasons including possibly providing more permissions to particular users then desired as well as creating a very cluttered root folder within the project.
We are migrating to 9.1 soon and have been looking into the preference to turn off auto sharing to projects, "Enable Automatic Share to Project",but when using this setting the system gives you cryptic or incorrect error messages at best and does not give you the option to share the object or objects out allowing you to choose where within the project they should go.
Is there a way to inform the user that the object is not yet in the project and prompt them to choose a location for the object within the project?
Am I missing some other options or settings or is this the way functionality was intended to work.
Thank you in advance,
Scott
