Category Numbering for EPMDoc

I've a numbering requirement for epmdocument (ProEngineer). The numbering of the epmdocument is created according to this scheme XXX-YYYYY where XXX is the category and YYYYY is the running number for that particular category. For example, STR-00005 represents the fifth strucutral ProE component created, ELECT-00080 represents the eight ProE electrical component created.

Currently, in ProE, there's a parameter that identify which category it belongs.

Windchill will automatically number whenever a new epmdocument/ProE component is created. it is not able to obtain the next running number for that category.

Does anyone of you have this requirement? I'm interested to know how you can achieve the above result?

Are you using WTParts? If so create two soft-types of WTParts, one
Structural, one Electrical. You can then create an OIR for each of those,
use a set prefix for the number, and each could have their own numbering
sequence. Then in Pro/E you would name the file the name of the WTPart and
then associate the two.



You can't create soft types of EPMDocs, so I don't think the same is
possible without using WTParts.
