Chamfer Note on Drawings - Creo Parametric 2

Calling All Pro/E Guys,

I have a part with some chamfered holes that has been giving me a bit of
trouble. Because I needed to create an auxiliary view at a 45˚ angle, the
leader note for my chamfer note comes out looking “strange.”

I do believe that I understand some of the mentality behind the chamfer
note on a drawing. It is intentionally perpendicular to the chamfer
surface.

Is there any way to CHANGE the way that this chamfer note displays on my
drawing? I want to be able to rotate the leader at an angle different from
the perpendicular that I am getting.

There is a way to change the way it looks. It’s in the .DTL file, but of course I don’t remember the name of it.

There is a chamfer option in the DTL, chamfer_45deg_leader_style, but I haven’t experimented with changes to it to see what happens in auxiliary views.

In your specific case what I do is create a leader note attached as it should be shown using the driving dimension data with it.

Donald,

I think that the old way was “better.” For some reason Creo has taken on
the assumption that all of us want leaders to be perpendicular to the
chamfer surface.

Sasha,

I have seen that dtl option myself. It controls placement of the text with
respect to the leader. It also controls text alignment with respect to the
leader.

Mike Locascio

Sure. I agree. Especially on a busy drawing where it might not be feasible to only have the chamfer note perpendicular to the surface.
