I am beginning down the path of installing Intralink 9.1 and migrating our 3.4 database. At this point I have successfully installed the all the software and started to do a bit of configuration. Before I go any further I'd like to export the database (similar to what we did in Intralink 3.4 using ilink_export.bat) so that I can revert back to a known configuration.
I've found TPI 132658 (Steps to export and import oracle dump files). It suggests performing an export of the schema using the following command:
DOS>exp system/manager@wind file=D:\ptc\pdmlink\empty_ilink_dump.dmp owner=guest log=exp.log
I have successfully executed this command and the dump file was approximately 6 Mb.
I was then working the Windchill E-Learning classes on system administration and they show how to perform an oracle schema dump using Enterprise Manager. Again, I was successful creating at the dump file but this time it was 34 Mb. To be certain, I exported the schema and not the entire database.
Can anyone explain why I'd see such a large file sizedifference using the two different methods? What steps do others follow to perform exports/imports in this new architecture?
Thank you in advance,
Joe
