Files extracted from a corruped Workspace. Any tool available?

Hi,

I'm looking for a tool that is able to extract cad files from a corruped Workspace.

I'm using Windchill 10.1 and Creo Element Pro 5.0.

Often the Workspace is corrupted anddesigners don't want to loose their work.

They want to backup these files before the workspace to be cleaned.

Thx,

CC

I agree with Olaf. However, I believe the files you want are the "lid_*" items and have a .wfcont extension. The "sid_*" items should already be uploaded to the server, so there is not a real need to recover those items.

I've tested and successfully used this tool here on WC10.1 M010 and Creo 2 M030 to recover local cache items from a workspace that weren't uploaded to the server.

Regards,
Max

CC,

I assume you want to recover saved files only and what there real cad
filename is. True?

If yes, I just did this for one of our users. Workspace in this case was
not corrupted. It was deleted yet I could still recover the work.

Please advise if this is your use case.

Use the config.pro option: dm_upload_objects automatic
All objects saved will also be uploaded to your server cache and eliminate any need for preserving local workspaces in case of corruption.
Just delete the old workspace cache on the local machine and restart Pro/E. The workspaces will repopulate.

That sounds like a great option to have enabled. Is there a big network
"penalty" for that?

When saving I don't notice a real delay, but there is some. You will see in the status bar that the model has been saved and then that the model has been uploaded. On a really large assembly, you may notice it.
From an administration stand point, if you use Windchill, you will create more unreferenced files in your vaults, so you should purge them more frequently.
