Mulitiple Intralink data servers

Intralink 3.4 single site M062

I have a question for Intralink admin gurus. We have a situation where we have two customers using the same naming convention for their hardware so we are unable to have both projects in intralink at the same time. We have Intralink single site license so we are unable to create separate file vaults. We are considering creating another Intralink dataserver/fileserver specific to one of our customers on a separate server and point to it whenever we have to work on that project. Has anyone tried this? Is there anything that I'm missing that would not work or perhaps another solution that I haven't thought about?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Homero

In the past I've set up Intralink clients to work with one of 12 dataservers, depending what geography/product they're working on. You simply switch a couple of things: where the workspace files/folders are stored, and the tnsnames.ora file. There's more info about it @

I too have done this, but only with 4 different dataservers, all running
from the same client install of Pro/I. As Edwin states, all you really
need to do is have a launch file that sits in front of the actual Pro/I
launch to swap the TNSNAMES.ORA file and point PDM_LDB_PATH to the
correct set of working folders for workspaces. Pretty easy actually.
