New Part Number Request

We recently implemented creation of WTPart for building Product Structure in Windchill. I would like to automate our part numbering assignment procedure during creation of WTParts. Today, Users send email or walk over to a selected group (ES)that assign and maintain a spreadsheet outside of Windchill.

Hasanyone used Part Request in Windchill or using other tools to assign part numbers?

I believe Part Request should be automated – this is the first step of implementing BOM (Product Structure Functionality) using workflow (WTPart + WTDocument “Spec sheet” + EPMDocument “3d Model/Drawing”). It is required to define master and non-master Part attributes for Part Specification.

Following CMII principals, numbering system should be automated,
non-significant numbering and driven off standard naming convention as
well.
