Renaming

Hi Everyone,

I have 100 components in a single assembly, I want to rename all the components like number, name & filename. Can we use the export from the spreadsheet for this? Actually, I tried to change the filename on this method, but I can't change the name & number. Can you help me with how we can do this?

This is standard OOTB functionality. If you rename a CAD assembly, you can use the collector to get its dependent models and rename, renumber or change filenames of them all in one shot.

Thanks for the replay.

                 I import all the details using the import from spreadsheet method, there I can change the filename(Common name), I want to do the same thing for numbers and names. I tested on here if I change the name or number in WT Part it's created with a new number, not updating the latest modified.

Hi @Amirtharaj_K 

The spreadsheet does not support changing the numbers. Number is unique identification and the spreadsheet do not allow you to define old and new one.

Agree with @HelesicPetr , export/import is not the right method unless you are trying to make new items, not rename/renumber existing items. I am bit confused on your steps. I am familiar with Export of Importable Sheet with WTParts but not for CAD. Can you explain your steps and process with screen shots perhaps?

S1: Using the import the spreadsheet to create a WT Part, once i create a WT Parts i can able to change the name. but i can't able to change the number. I attached the file below.

WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPart|com.ptc.MechanicalPart this type which i used for WT Parts.

I want the same thing for EPM document and as well i want edit it's new only i am not association each other.

When i create a WT Part automatically create a same number name in EPM document it's possible. Please find the screenshot new_multiple_parts there is there any way to create EPM.

No, the function for multi CADDocument creation does not exists as for WTPart.
