Is there a good way to use Windchill to track contract required deliverables? I understand loading docs and routing them for local approval prior to submitting through external portals.
I'm wondering about some sort of tracking, where maybe we have to load all of the potential deliverables up front, but we could list who would own them, when they are due, etc. Currently I see many people using a spreadsheet or other external form of recording and it seems quite silly. We have a tool that should be able to be used for this.
There is an Aerospace and Defense module.
Our department that deals with product certification also certifies testing instruments used for dimensional checks or in laboratory tests.
It does this using various documents, managed in Windchill, with the necessary attributes that are filled in by users.
For example, through reports and data monitors, built with Windchill's standard tools, people are notified by email in advance with a list of the instruments to be checked, who need to verify, before the validity expiration date, whether the instrument is still usable.
This is interesting, the data monitors that are built with Windchill's standard tools, are they named something I can ask our admins about? I'm mostly just a heavy user of the tool and unfortunately have little influence over how updates & enhancements are completed. It just makes me a little crazy that the data managers have to use a spreadsheet (or the like) to keep track of all of the SDRl's for multiple programs when all of the data they are sending is in Windchill
.
All databases are mines of data that must be mined and processed to make decisions.
If you have no user in your company who can prepare reports for Windchill, I suggest you ask for one or try the site administrator.
I learned by dint of trial and error and with the help of some experienced users in the community.
To answer your question about data monitors, this Windchill feature first requires that reports be prepared and then monitors are run on them
PTC support has prepared an article with many ready-to-use reports

And also this page with the first rudiments on how to prepare reports

This is a document I wrote, with several useful information for those who want to get started with Windchill's reporting tools
