Using Deadline to Auto-Reject

Hi Folks, hoping one of you can help me out.

We have a promotion workflow that has a ASSIGNED ACTIVITY for the first approval step. In it, the user can pick APPROVED or REJECTED. I'd like to use DEADLINE to first warn them when 7 days have expired (no problem there, I can do that).

Here is my issue, when the DEADLINE arrives, I want to automatically vote to REJECTED. In DEADLINE, the only overdue consequences are "Skip", "Mark Complete", "Reassign to the responsible role". None of these seem to be sufficient, or at least specific enough, to take the rejected path.

I could set a variable at the beginning of the workflow, that would be changed by the user voting. Then a timer could be set that would wait, and if the vote had not happened when the timer expires, route the process through the rejection pathway (changing the state of the objects, sending emails etc).

Is this a better way? Thanks

Eugene,

You can use the skip option for this scenario. You need to trigger the
skip event in the Rejected link also. What will happen is, if the user
doesn't complete the task within the deadline this task will be skipped
(will be marked as blue in the workflow) and the workflow will follow
the rejected route. If the user completes the task within the stipulated
time, it will follow the chosen path.

Best Regards
