Windchill Reporting Strategies

Hi,

Wondering what is the reporting infrastructure in your PLM implementation.

We have also built Thingworx Change Management Dashboard with average cycle time, change request aging, trend analysis with drill down capabilities.

Wondering what PLM reporting strategy is in place..

1) Query Builder Report as needed basis.

2) Thingworx Dashboard

3) Any implementation of Traditional and Cloud Datawarehouse (Redshift, SnowFlake etc) for PLM Analytics.

4)  Any other data visualization mechanism.

Thanks,

Preeti

The most customer which are using the change management has implemented (customized) their own reports. We have done this with FOP (before Windchill 12) and now started with Japser. But that is only the Change Request or Change Notice itself and is only a snapshot.

For the change management overview we have used the query builder. This worked pretty good until 11.0. The query builder is powerful, but is not that easy to learn. And with the switch between legacy and flexible links it's even more difficult to merge and find the correct information. When all change objects have been migrated to the flexible links, it will be better again.

We still have troubles to sell Thingworx to small SME since it's a new and dependent platform. Most of them love the navigate apps, but are disappointed of the functionality like search, show configurable links, show other attributes, etc. To change or develop a new app, is for most SME just too expensive. So they stick to Windchill and try to live with the OOTB functionality.

Perhaps in future it will also easier to create such reports in Jasper.

I'm also very interested what kind of tools other are using for this important "management" information.
