Windchill preformance testing tools

We're looking for a way to test theperformance of our Windchill servers. For example, is our Windchill 10.1 installation slower then our 10.0 installation. Or is the large customization we implemented on our test server too slow to go live with.

We've heard PTC uses (or plans to use) SeleniumHQ tools, but we cant find anyone at PTC whocan verifythis.

Can anyone share info on SelenumHQ and Windchill ?

Which testing tools are you using ?

PTC uses DynaTrace system monitor for this stuff in 10 and 10.1

We've implemented PSM (PTC System Monitor) which is the dynatrace tool.
Not experts yet, but it's pretty slick, not much it doesn't seem to cover.
And, it's free with Windchill...

Dan was looking for some automated testing tools to run tests under load
and/or sequential testing to then measure transaction speed from step to
step during individual tests, as well as tests under load.

We have the PSM also, but that does not do automated load testing, does
it? Or any kind of automated testing, right?

Windchill Admin class shows you how to do this to an extent. You can use JMeter to record a scenario and then play it back to simulate 100 users doing this task.

PTC has Jmeter based load test that uses PTC World Car as a dataset.
It can put pretty nice load on a server and get realistic numbers playing multi users scenario.
Requires some setup on a server side however and also pretty powerful PC to run the test itself.

Hi Steve,

Igor refers to a benchmark also known as the Multi User Load Generator (MULG). As you can imagine, there is a single user load generator as well. Both are stress tests for Windchill, the first one runs without a ProE client.

We have been using the MULG quiet a lot( assisted by our VAR). But what's hindering us, is our CAD Worker! The CAD Worker publishes anything that's checked in. During the MULG cycle, there is a massive check in. MULG starts deleting those new objects immediately after, but this fails because the CAD Worker already started doing its job. So the MULG fails.

Our actual approach is to disable the CAD Worker on site level, perform the MULG benchmarking, and when finished, re-enable the CAD worker and start a publishing job for those CAD documents checked in and not published. Quiet a burden.

Best Regards,

Hugo.
