We are planning to move from Windchill PDM Essentials 11.1 M020 (since this has no more support since January 2023) to Windchill PLM 12.1.2.1 ---- Will this kind of architecture layout look as a recommended one for a long haul?

Can we have 2 VM's with SQL Servers on it and have the Windchill servers (1, 2, ...n) talk to these SQL servers? This is some kind of architecture I was thinking of but like to hear from the SME's.
