How to create new simplified rep in toplevel assembly using reps allready created in lower level subassemblies Creo 2 - have we lost functionality?

Hi all,

We used to be able to create simplified reps in toplevel assemblies by using the Substitute By Rep command.

If you had a toplevel assembly which contained many sub assemblies and each sub assembly contained multiple simplified reps. When defining a new rep in the toplevel assembly you could use Substitute to bring in the lower level reps into a toplevel assembly rep that you were creating on the fly.

Have we lost this functionality as of Creo? If not where would it be found? See image attached.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi All,

Just found what I was looking for.

When you select the dropdown for exclude, master, ect. Just select user definded and it will allow you to select the rep you are looking to use. see additional attached image.

Hi Don,

If you are using M070 build of CP2, there are two new improved functions worth knowing about. The first one is a dm config preview setting for searching the windchill server. If you have a large structure where not all objects reside in a workspace, then this setting at no will only show preview of images from files in the workspace. Basically preventing automatic downloads or lockups in the simp rep UI.

Another neat function is in the model tree view drop down menu for filtering the tree. The previous setting included "active" and "inactive" objects with default having them both checked. Now a new setting is included to show only objects in the model tree with explicit status. This one is good to find out if a user substituted a rep on a first level subassembly and then went down 6 levels to explicitly exclude a component that should have been turning on a component from the substitute rule.
