I am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.3.0
I want to be able to snap a new line in sketch mode to a custom palette symbol without have to break the symbol into draft entities.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Here is an option that emulated from Creo-7. Create a grid layout (tab: Sketch/ribbon: Draft Grid) to whatever size you prefer. Place your symbol snapped to the grid. If the origin point of the symbol is not the same as where you want to attach a sketched line in your drawing window, then left-click on symbol/select Edit icon/select Custom in Origin box/ZOOM up on area of snap grid and click to the desired place on grid/OK. You now have a grid snap of symbol and now sketch your line to that grid snap. A ZOOM is a must otherwise you could pick up another snap point and not a grid snap point. You have options in your Custom Drawing Symbol box see Placement area and Type. Once you sketch the line and want to move the symbol with line this will not take line with it. You should seek a way to manipulate locations, and they do exist, and you'll figure that out - Good luck!
Hi @KenMeeler
Snapping to lines for any symbol depends on placement type defined in the definition of symbols. If symbol is not defined with free placement it will use screen point for placement.
