Color Map - Preloading?

A few revs ago, I forget when, PTC added a terrific default color map to Pro/E. This little guy has dozens of useful colors already defined and named in it. But...every time you go to use it, you have to sit while it loads the little sample color globes, one at a time, until the one you want is loaded. Does anyone know of a config option or something that lets Pro/E use some of my computer's memory to, like, populate this table so I don't have to sit and let it churn when I want to use it?

Does this make sense? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. Note the last three, white globes next to the purple one that have yet to generate.

Should be able to, it is just a text file, appearance.dmt.
The one I attached has 138 colors in it.

Look in your <loadpoint>\graphic_library\adv_materials\* and you will find others.
You can also download the Graphics Library from ptc.com and it has additional *.dmt files.
Woods, asphalt, concrete, glass, etc are all in the Graphics Library.

I replace the original one in
C:\ptc\ProeWildfire3M040\graphic-library\appearances folder

Even there is a config. setting (global_appearance_file), it does not
work.

I tried using our standard appearance.dmt in Wildfire 4 after modifying and saving it in Wildfire 5. It would not load, which leads me to think it may not be backwards compatible. There are several new definitions added to each color in the file saved out of Wildfire 5.

On many occasions we need to take a view of a drawing and bring it into a
Word document. We have always used the CGM output from Pro/E to create a
file that we can then import into Word. Lately Microsoft has been
dropping support for CGM files and this is getting more difficult to
accomplish.

We are using Wildfire 4 M180 and Office 2003 or 2007

What are some other solutions that are being used to bring drawing views
into other documents?

What I do is print to tiff and the bring that into photoshop, scale it down, and crop to what I want. Makes a nice image.

I do similar… but I like to use PDF’s.

I use print screen and then paste... quick and dirty! Gets the job done depending on the use.

I use all those techniques and for screenshots you can't beat Snagit. Check out version 10.

Do you have Productview Professional? There is a toolkit that allows the
embedded Productview file to show in MS Word and PowerPoint.

We use the PowerPoint toolkit for presentations because you can pan, zoom,
hide, explode..... right in your slide presentation. The toolkit is very
simple to use. The computer that you are viewing MS Word document or
PowerPoint needs to at least have Productview Express loaded.

I want to thank you all for the quick replies, which varied from using
Tiff files, pdf and using screen capture software.

The best solution similar to the CGM process came from a suggestion to use
an encapsulated postscript file.

I created a printer to print to postscript and save to a file. Then,
while saving the file, change the suffix to eps from ps.

You can then import that file using the "insert - picture" from Word.

Here is the printer pcf file:
