Creation of Datums With Analysis Feature

What extension allows the creation of datum features within a mass properties analysis feature?

Most of our seats are what was called 'Advanced XE' with Advanced Assembly (AAX) and the option to add a CS at the COG is greyed out in the analysis dialog.  If I fire up our one 'Enterprise SE' seat with all the extensions, the option is available.

When we were downgraded most of our licenses to reduce our maintenance costs, I don't recall that being one of the functions we would lose.  I'm curious as to what extension that is a part of.  Is it Behavioral Modeling (BMX)?

You need behavioral modeling extension.

Several responses confirmed that it was BMX.  Not something we need all the time, so having a single seat for our 8 users should be fine.

One more thing. If you just wanting to do a CG or Mass Prop feature. You can add those to the start parts and assemblies. And then the licenses without BMX can utilize those features. They just can't modify them. So in reality you only would need one license of BMX.

Make an extrusion in a part, add your analysis feature, then remove the extrusion and save. Any new part that uses that as a start part now gets the analysis feature.
Do something similar with an assembly. Add a part, add your analysis feature, then remove the part and save the assy and use as your start assy.

The other thing you can do is create a startup configuration that has BMX in it. That way you can float it to whoever needs it when they need it.

Great ideas.  Users are prompted to pick a license to use at startup, so they can pick the 'full boat' seat if they need it.

I like the start part idea, however we rarely use out own start parts.  We get start parts from each client and use them for their projects so our data merges with their system as seamlessly as possible.  We typically don't modify their start parts for our own use.

So, if I'm able to create the feature in the start part and start assembly, is it possible to create the CG coordinate system by just creating an offset coordinate system? I could drive it with the relations panel, couldn't I, since the offset for an empty part or assembly would be zero in all three axes?

I also noticed this on the form. So I should at least be able to save the X,Y,Z CG coordinates as parameters, right?

If you create the datum analysis feature and place it in your part Footer with the CSYS checked it will automatically create the COG coordinate system plus update its position whenever the part is regenerated. We've had it included in our start part template for several years now and it works like a champ
