Creo 12.4.1 material usage parameters are out of date

Hi Folks,

Moved to Creo 12.4.1,

Getting this notification every time I open a part or assembly: "Material usage parameters are out of date"

Only way to make it go away is to use the "Update Materials Usage..." command.

But that only lasts for that session, next time the files are opened, the message pops up again.

Is there some point or purpose other than to be annoying?

Regeneration does nothing to get rid of this notification.

Thanks for any wisdom shared.

I imagine it is similar to the constant messages I get when opening old drawings and am told datum references are something like obsolete or whatever. The only way I can get rid of this annoyance is to redo any datum specifications in the drawing with the current "defined in the drawing" stuff.

I'm guessing you'd have to open all the offending parts and "fix" the material usage stuff it doesn't like, then save. Not fun.

Thank you Martin, yes, this looks to be a way to hide the message, not sure if the error is something I should be concerned about though.

In Creo 12.4 PTC added a new validation check for material usage, which is why you now see the “Material usage parameters are out of date” message. It’s not a bug. Older parts and assemblies don’t have the updated material usage information saved in the file, so every time you open them Creo flags it. Simply regenerating won’t clear it, because it’s tied to stored material parameters, not geometry.

The only way to fix it is to run Update Materials Usage… and then save the model; once saved with the updated data, the warning won’t come back. If it still does, your templates or start parts likely need to be updated the same way.

Thank you  Michael, for some reason, Updating, Saving does not prevent the message from reappearing on the next open, only for that session.
