Hello Dear Friends at PTC Community,
What is the industry practice regarding level of details for MBD parts? Should ALL features have ALL dimensions shown, in as many Combination Views as necessary (same level of detailing as in 2D drawing)?
Is there a way to hide a model in Combination View? Some of our Combination Views are packed with notes and models are not necessary (they get in the way actually).
Simplified Representation works within assemblies, but not at part level.
any chance someone here can share a good practice/high standard reference model, something I can learn from?
Regarding the industry practice for Model-Based Definition (MBD) parts, the approach to detailing in MBD depends on the organization’s internal standards, industry requirements, and the end use of the model. Typically, not all features need to have all dimensions shown in MBD models, unlike 2D drawings. The aim is to show critical dimensions, tolerances, and annotations required for manufacturing and inspection, leveraging the model geometry where possible to avoid redundant information.
