ECAD section plane

ECAD section plane

I'm trying to output some parts in ECAD for the electrical guys to
import, but I can't figure out how to get Pro to output a connector
outline. The help says I need a section plane, but, as usual, doesn't
tell me how to create one. How do I create a section plane for a
component outline, and how do I do that in an assembly (as in a
connector model that happens to be an assembly)?

ECAD section planeHi Ken,

For a part to be exported via IDF it needs to have a uniform cross section. You basically need to create a protrusion from the base of the part to the top of the part that uses all of the outside geometry when looking at the part from a top view.

Attached is an IDF emn file that was generated from the attached .prt file.

Also, visit www.simplifiedsolutionsinc.com for more Pro/ECAD information.

To give mechanical sketches to electrical layout, You need to create an ECAD area of type 'Place Region'. This will transfer its planar geometry to the electrical system.

They have to read and interpret it properly, though...
