Exporting to DXF

Exporting to DXF

Has anybody else come across an issue exporting Pro/ENGINEER drawings to DXF and the circles being converted into two semi-circles as opposed to one single circular entity? It is causing issues when sending to plasma machines for cutting.

We are using Wildfire 4 m220.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Neal

Sorry all..

Just to clarify...the issue is not that circles are converted into multiple small segments.

The issue is actually the circle is converted into 2 semicircles.

Apologies for any confusion.

Neal

Are these by chance assembly cut features, or features that are created
with a surface cut?

Darrin (and Stephen)

These are normal run of the mill hole features/circular cuts in a mixture of solid and sheet metal parts.

We have tried this over a couple of users with a number of different parts all with the same result.

This is behaviour I haven't witnessed before.

Neal,
Have you by chance recently upgraded your CAM software? I ask because we have two different brands here, and one of them has always split the .dxf circle into two segments, while the other has never done so.

Regards,
James

You may have stated this already, but what version / cut of Pro / Creo are
you running?

I have seen this behavior before on cuts made with surfs or assembly cuts.
When we've ran into this here, it hasn't seemed to cause any hiccups with
our cutting software, but we have lasers, not plasmas. I don't know why
that would make any difference though.

After some further internal investigation it appears to be an issue with Wildfire 4 m190.

We upgraded the PC in question to m220 and exported the same drawing to DXF.

This time the DXF was created with complete circles.

Could anybody else running WF4 m190 confirm if they get semi-circles in their DXF export?

Thanks to everybody that replied.

Regards,

Neal
