Flat state view, drawing view...

What is the best way, insert a flat state view (sheet metal part) in the drawing view. I use Edit>Setup>Flat State, but I think this way is not true. The way is create some problem esspecialy Windchill. And I think this way is not proccess centric. Flat state is a Family Table. We use family table create a wariant part. I try to use Representation, but this way is not usefull too. This way is make longer. Please share me your experiences.

I create a flat pattern as a feature. I've never used the Edit>Setup>Flat State like you do and I'm not sure how it works. The I suppress the flat pattern and make a family table instance with the flat pattern resumed. Then add that instance to a drawing.
