Illustrate will be available later this year and will be compatible with Creo Schematics 3.0
Are you asking about how to create drawings that contain the electrical scheme from Creo Schematics, plus the 3D model from Creo parametric?
Yes thats correct.
I would like to understand whether PTC Creo Schematic and Parametric Combo has the capability to produce composite drawing (Parent and Child)
Our company is struggling with this as well.
PTC, any comments?
Currently the only way to show the schematic on the harness manufacturing drawing is to import and export either DWG or DXF. PTC is working on a solution by the name of Creo View Illustrate for schematics, which is an illustration tool that can intelligently document the design for either the manufacturing or the maintenance of a product.
This will enable the consumer of the content to have intelligent 3 way cross highlighting between the schematic, the Creo Parametric content and the BOM. The schematic, and Creo Parametric will have all the meta data meaning the viewable will be intelligent and when linked with Windchill will recognize when the content is out of date. In summary PTC is aware of the requirement and is working on solution that will meet the requirement highlighted in this topic and many others.
Of course you need to get your content out to manufacturing today and as previously mentioned some customers are importing and exporting dxf or dwg and other customers are creating a PDF and generating a secondary printable sheet which can then be attached to the nailboard. The benefit of the PDF if that it can be automatically generated on check in to windchill thus change managed.
Excellent! It's great to hear there's a solution coming.
Any projections of when Creo View Illustrate will be available and what version of Creo Parametric and Creo Schematic it will work with?
