How to create greyscale Postscript files?

Hopefully an easy one:
Has anyone found a way to let ProE create Greyscale Postscript files?

I could not find any .pcf setting to disable the colors.

Problem:
We have drawings like these:

For years, when printing in batch mode, we have been sending color postscript files to our Black&White printers.
These were printed in greyscale like this:

Now we are switching towards color printers.
The postscript files are treated as is, so now they are printed in color.

Any tips on how to force or change the postscript files to greyscale?

This is our current .pcf file

Hi Olaf,

can you share with us your pen_table.pnt??

I don't think pen table files will affect shaded views. You might have some luck with Ghostview. In the convert menu there is a properties dialog box. There are all kinds of properties you can set about down sampling color images and gray images. I poked around a bit but did not find anything that worked for me in a couple of tries.

There is also a pcxgray device that sounds like it's gray scale but I don't have a PCX file viewer.

PTC quality philosophy: We've upped our quality standards. Up yours.

Thanks all for your replies.

Looks like you can't create greyscale Postscript files from Creo Parametric/ProE.
There are tools to convert color Postscript files to greyscale (Adobe, Gimp).Or you can Print/Save As to PDF in greyscaleAnd off course you can change the default in your windows printer driver to greyscale.
Still you would need to press the OK button in the windows printer dialogue
But all these workarounds are not what I wanted: let ProE create a greyscale postscript file.
We use the postscript files for batch printfile creation followed by batch printing.
So we can't have any user interference in setting preferences or accepting windows printer dialogues

The solution we have now found was a setting on the Canon printers.
It will now treat all raw printfiles (like our color Postscript files) as B&W instead of Auto (Color and B&W)..
We can now only print in color when printing through the local printer driver.

So from ProE we create the Postscript file (which is still in color) and ProE uses a low level method to send the file to the printer.
e.g. print /D:\printerserver\CanonPrinter c:\temp\printfile.ps

Problem solved .....

Kind regards,

Olaf Corten
