IGES vs STEP

Does anyone know which is a better file type to import 3D CAD into Pro-e, IGESor STEP? What are the benefits or pit falls to each?

I'm not sure where I heard this, but my understanding is that STEP is a
more tightly controlled standard. IGES leaves a lot more to the
interpretation of the various software vendors. We've always had better
luck with STEP when going between Pro|E and Saladworks.
